"(This) strikes me as favourably as its predecessor (RRC 1157). Tartini's violin concertos come in a wide variety of (performance) styles; some of them, no doubt because of the romance attached to his Devil's Trill Sonata ...Nikolitch and the Auvergne are not practitioners of period instruments but they are at one in their approach to the music, disciplined in matters of expression ... clean and lively in their ensemble and appreciative of qualities which make (these) distinctive and rewarding ...Nikolitch is an athletic player who turns his back on any opportunity for vacuous showmanship: a sustained gesture towards Tartini's music would be welcome from artists as capable and sensitive as these. Warmly commended.
